For those of us who felt that Inception was facile and sterile, Birdman is the film we wanted. It's hard to say anything about it without giving anything away. Personally I believe it is a masterpiece. Iñarritu's work is incredible. A must-see for fans of film making as art.

Art who?
Note: Not really shot as one long take, director wanted to do it that way, however.

A remake of the old Burt Lancaster movie? Sheesh! [j/k]
I'm Still Standing, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah [it's an old guy chant for me]

Thanks Mosca. The marketing for this film has been quite subdued. It seems like they are waiting for Academy Award nominations before stepping it up.

It is certainly unconventional, and only has enough of a plot to address the issues of identity and reality. If you prefer spectacle you will not like this.

Another one of these writers who dies young from an addiction. RC died from lung cancer from heavy smoking.

I still remember Amores Perros from 14 years ago at the SDLatino film festival. Alejandro González Iñárritu has moved right away into a pinnacle position in American culture.

Iñárritu's project for next Christmas is a remake story done in the 1971 film about a man in the early 19th century betrayed by his comrades and left for dead. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio.
