You should really read it, it addresses your point.

You can't help but see the difference in attitudes towards women between the 1930 encyclical and that one from 1995. Wow, what a change. The change in interpretation of the scripture is also significant.

I'm not reading the whole thing, it's too long.

One thing that stands out with any religion
that is held by a primitive people, is they are
always basic and uncomplicated. They are
never bogged down in minutia. There's a
force that connects us all. They thank an animal
for giving it's life so we might continue to live.
They celebrate their religion by dancing and
chants.

There are no complicated philosophies, no sins,
no condemnations. The goal is to live in harmony
with nature and the universe. It's man's ego that
screws that all up. Some want to be leaders of
the religion, so they dream up rules a regs and proclaim
they are from god. Keep going long enough
and you have a monstrosity of bullcrap called
the Catholic Church.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Very good definition of sin.

Yes, sin isn't real, it's made up by
man's ego. It doesn't exist outside
of your mind, it's not real.

Remember we are at war with Eastasia.

I never understood why Nareed uses this line but I think it applies here.

As an illustration of the double-think required by religious beliefs at every turn.

Did you not read "1984"?

However, I disagree that God doesn't help, comfort, or support.

At times when I felt depressed, my dog would try to cheer me up or comfort me. She'd lie by my side and lick my face. And that's a lot more than any deity has ever done.

Of course, the dog was real.

FrG should get a dog, I think that's what
his problem is. My dog is wonderful.
