Even outside of the explicit beliefs, applying the concepts of Christianity in how to live your life bears great fruit in peace and happiness.

You mean it sometimes bears great fruit and
peace and happiness. It's a hit and miss thing,
mostly miss. Christians aren't any happier than
atheists, that's a proven fact. And by the swelling
prison populations of mostly religious people,
it looks to be a major fail..
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

- yet at the same time we are weak often easily confused, with limited capacity to know things, and a temptation to be selfish.

A temptation? It's a natural imperative.

You can fight it, but you will lose. You may as well fight sexuality, which you've been doing for millennia and are still losing. Don't you think it's time to give up the fight?

It is a noble and glorious fight to reclaim our supernatural nature and reject the notion we are nothing but animals driven only to be selfish and survive.

As someone once said, "If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose."

I don't see how giving up our sexual nature,
which the clergy of the Church does, gets us
closer to a supernatural nature. Suffering only
leads to more suffering.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Pay close attention to what I'm about to say:

1) I am a deeply selfish person. Very likely the most selfish person you know.

2) You're own judgment is that I'm a good person. You've stated this several times.

Contradictions cannot exist. Check your premises.

One of my premises might be wrong. But considering you would give a kidney to a friend I am betting number one is wrong.

Huh? How could someone give up their sexual nature? Where did your comment about suffering come from?

I'll repeat this once more: I am a deeply selfish person. Very likely the most selfish person you know.

"Within the Roman Catholic Church, clerical celibacy is mandated for all clergy."

This means all forms of sex. Not letting your
natural sexual nature express itself, is this not
giving up on it?

But you seem convinced that your selfishness is somehow altruistic.
