...I can't figure out how to highlight on this machine. no mouse. it does one of those tiny square pads though.
When I use chrome the cut and paste commands don't seem to be turned on...

Does the following work to cut and paste a sentence?

Using the touchpad go to the beginning of a sentence.
Then while pressing down on the touchpad with the left index finger, move to the end of the sentence using the right index finger on the touchpad.
When the sentence is blue, do CTRL-C.
Go to the destination and do CTRL-V.

If you have a search box on your main screen, type in "shortcuts", If you use a browser, go to Google and type in "windows shortcuts", or "shortcuts no mouse" or "Windows key commands."

Well, I have a feeling you're going to say you still can't see YouTube videos.

But if you can see them, type in searches like "how to move around windows with just a keyboard" (...without a mouse) (with only a trackpad) or "How to use programs without...same same same as before.

It's all there.

Thanks. Very first one I tried took me to this 0612 Nerdtv video that sounds like it will be perfect as soon as I wake up enough to write down his mile a minute audio tips.
brain damage is so hard to deal with.
its so frustrating when a search box leads to a search of the whole internet for openword when all I want to do is search my own computer for it.

My 6 year old 23" HP monitor started
screwing up this week. The control
panel would constantly cycle on the
screen. The only solution is take it
apart and unplug the panel module.
Screw that. These are supposed to
last 30K hours, I got 20K maybe.

So I looked and they cost half as
much as in 2013. I got a 24" Acer
for $99. I looked at more expensive
refurbished, but how do they refurbish
a monitor. It still has a ton of hours
on it. I don't need high pixel refresh rate,
I don't play games, I just watch Nflix
and Prime. For $99 I can just get a
new one in 5 years.

The Acer is amazing. There's no frame
around the screen, it's all just screen.
And it's a true 24", is 2/3 as thick
as the HP and weighs nothing.

Mostly those are just returns, there is nothing fixable on them.

Then the question is, why was
it returned. You can't find a
monitor that doesn't have
8%-10% negative comments.
So I bought one that had 3000
comments, using the logic that
the odds were I would get a
good one with that many sold.

It was a trade in for an upgrade?

Well, there are several things that can be repaired and replaced on a monitor - the flat panel display, and the logic/power board (drives the OSD messages, has the video interfaces).

The flat panel display may or may not have circuit boards that would be replaceable by the screen manufacturer. With the low cost of the screen, I don't think they bother, though.

So that leaves the monitor manufacturer, to take the good screens and good logic boards from the warranty replacements to make as many refurbished units as they can from them.
