I've tried to watch Abyss twice and have never
made it to the end. It's just too convoluted.

Amanda Knox

New documentary on Netflix.

I never really paid much attention to this story. So I didn't have strong feelings either way as to her innocence or guilt.

After watching the documentary: I still don't have strong feelings either way.

Death in Paradise has been showing for 5 seasons (40 episodes) on PBS. It is a British-French co-production on a fictional island in the Caribbean that is currently owned by the British, but has gone back and forth over the centuries so that about 1/3 of people are still French.

Critics despise this show, for many of the same reasons EB complains about Midsomer Murders. It is simple minded, stereotypical, and very formulaic. However it remains extremely popular in Britain, seemingly because it is the polar opposite of Marcella. It follows the Agatha Christie school where the detective has a revelation midway through the story, gathers the suspects in a room to listen to his reasoning, and the killer once accused quickly confesses.

These types of shows have a following
of people who don't like to think. They
just stare at the TV with blank minds.
They like formulaic, they know what
to expect. Rolling Stone just named
Duck Dynasty and the dumbest TV show
of all time, in their 10 dumbest shows
list. It's not a reality show, as it's billed.
It's a 100% scripted sitcom, but the
majority of it's idiot audience thinks
it's real. That these college educated, very
rich and successful men, are modern
day Beverly Hillbillies.

Watched The Call Up last night. A virtual reality movie where contestants will win $100,000 if they play a VR battle game and emerge victorious at the end. Is it real? Or just a game? If you used to play Quake or Doom back in the 90s, this is the movie for you. Kinda cool how they mix the real world vs. VR. Imagine Star Trek's holodeck is real.

Caprica was a Battlestar Galactica prequel series where high school kids are obsessed with virtual reality world where they do almost everything imaginable

Alessandra Torresani was age 21 when she filmed this pilot, but in typical TV fashion she is playing a 15 year old girl who is way too sexy for the age of her character.

Oh yes, I forgot about Caprica! They did VR really well on that show too. Very underrated show, and Torresani was a cutie-pie.

Watched The Shallows today. First half was decent, middle was okay, the ending was incredibly stupid.

All in all it was an enjoyable 87 minutes. There were some logical disconnects, like how someone can get cell service at a remote beach that almost no one knows about. Blake Lively was pretty good at supporting the entire movie. Think of it as The Grey but with a woman and a shark in the ocean. But watch it and you'll see what I mean.

For those who aren't going to watch it regardless,
The shark kills itself by ramming its mouth/jaws into a spike.
