That doesn't appeal to me to watch it, all the killing.

But, how goes the book?

I read in spurts and have not had a big reading spurt in a while
Have to admit I started GOT book but have not gone deep yet, just a couple of chapters so far

They weren't a light fluffy read at all.

This is at least the third time.

I must ask then, of our older readers, does stuff like this (graphic violence) really have an effect on you?

Seeing heads, hands, or... other parts chopped off doesn't hit me so hard. I mean, there's an emotional level regarding who it happened to, but the act itself has little to no effect on me. Is it because of my generation? Has a lifetime of Duke Nuke 'Em up through GTAV simply cemented what "fantasy" is to me?

I'll be the first to say that I cannot handle skateboard fail videos at all. Broken whatevers, can't do it. The same can be said for any captured disaster. You show me an accident where parts go where they shouldn't, and it's as if my stomach turns in on itself. That feeling I never get when watching movie / animation / generation.

Just curious as to what it is. I for one am still disappointed in the poisoning, as I believe that characters' head should've been cleaved in twain.. I'd have really loved to see that.

SyFy show where bad guy cuts off hands of magician.

The violence has to be personal and believable to be upsetting for most people of any generation. I found "Black Mirror" on Netflix to be much more disturbing than any show where demon gods cut off hands. And there is no overt violence in anything I saw on "Black Mirror".

I thought the movie "Seven" was disturbing as hell, and almost all the violence occurred off-screen in that movie.

Fictional violence that mimics real life violence is the worst.

I am the exact same way.

I can handle just about any level of *fictional* violence possible, because I know it's fake.

But when I see actual videos of bones breaking, it makes me sick. A few years ago I remember there was an NCAA basketball player who snapped his leg during March Madness. I couldn't even watch the video.

And last summer at the Olympics there was a male gymnast from France who shattered his leg landing a vault. I was watching it live on the NBC app and it made me want to puke.

It's purposeless violence porn, meant
to titillate those with too many
moral standards or not enough. Like
all porn, it has to get more and more
graphic to hold interest. It's a vast
waste of time and I waste zero time
on it. Zero.

I have to wonder about people who require their entertainment to upset them.

Though come to think of it, that seemed the whole point of Greek Tragedy.

I'm not alone

The serial killers credo. It entertains me,
so it's OK. Being entertained by people
having violence done to them is a
sickness, but how would you know that.
