No kidding, you're just catching onto
that now? Why do you think this
society is so screwed up, or are you
so much a part of it that you didn't
even notice.

What I get is you think watching sicko perverted
violence is fun and entertaining and you never
question why that is. I don't watch it because I
don't need to. You need to ask yourself why
you like this crap, you may learn something
about yourself. Fat chance of that happening.

This is at least the third time.

I must ask then, of our older readers, does stuff like this (graphic violence) really have an effect on you?

Seeing heads, hands, or... other parts chopped off doesn't hit me so hard. I mean, there's an emotional level regarding who it happened to, but the act itself has little to no effect on me. Is it because of my generation? Has a lifetime of Duke Nuke 'Em up through GTAV simply cemented what "fantasy" is to me?

I'll be the first to say that I cannot handle skateboard fail videos at all. Broken whatevers, can't do it. The same can be said for any captured disaster. You show me an accident where parts go where they shouldn't, and it's as if my stomach turns in on itself. That feeling I never get when watching movie / animation / generation.

Just curious as to what it is. I for one am still disappointed in the poisoning, as I believe that characters' head should've been cleaved in twain.. I'd have really loved to see that.
I think Bob said it well, " It's purposeless violence porn".

Earlier I had mentioned the show "Dexter", when we were surfing looking to binge on something. About 5 episodes in, my wife and I looked at each other and said, meh. A little soft porn and somebody being dismembered every episode. There has to be some video that is more entertaining.

"This is at least the third time" ?? what

I don't want to creep you out or anything, but I don't play video games either.

I don't either. I've tried dozens in the
last 20 years and they all bore me silly
in the first 10min. I'm a chess player
and a crossword do'er, video games
have no challenge.

I don't get watching violent, painful images.

Look, I can think of ways to kill hateful people to make them suffer the way they deserve, like Nazi war criminals (hanging was letting them off easy), or others I'd rather not mention. I could go into detail. But it's cruel and uncivilized, and I couldn't bear to watch it even if it were fiction.

It's funny, if you're a decent parent you
will do anything to prevent kids under
the age of 10, especially really young
kids, from watching any kind of the
violence porn that shows gory details.
We instinctively know it's wrong and
unhealthy and sends the wrong message
to children.

Somewhere along the way lots of people
lose their moral center and they think
it's entertaining to see cruel violence
done to others, even if it's fiction. They
are no longer repulsed by it, and that should
call for a lot of inner searching as to why
that is.

It really depends.

I do not mind horror-movie violence. It is so fake it does not matter.

99% of TV violence does not bother me. I can think of 2 exceptions. When they broke Beecher's arms and legs on "OZ" and in the same show when they nailed the Chester to the gym floor. Maybe 1-2 other things on that show got to me.

OTOH, I cannot stand watching violence to a dog on TV at all.

Just signed up for the Amazon Prime free month
Watched 2 seasons of Bosch over the weekend. Loved it
I read all the Michael Connelly Det Bosch books
Just so neat to see characters fleshed out that I have read so much about
I see Michael Connelly is also exec producer.
Bosch Seaston 3 has been available on Amazon Prime for last 48 hours. free.
Unfortunately, I watched the entire season at one sitting and guess I have to wait a year for season 4 when they finally arrest the butler.
