Loan sharks are as old as history. 99% of the loans work, people pay them back just fine. It's the 1% that don't pay back the money that gets all the bad press. They have colorful collection methods and that's what we hear about. We never hear about Joe Blow who borrowed $500 and paid back $600 ten days later. That's boring. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

The mafia did not come up with 6:5 BJ, that is for sure.
It is why the Payday Loan survives and thrives despite attempts to kill the business. These politicians, they do not know what it is ti be short money because something unexpected came up. First they shut off marginal credit at the banks, then they do it at the Payday Store. Where do they think people will go? The President is a fink. |

They didn't come up with 'resort fees" or $60 cable bills with $30 surcharges. |

Face Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 61 Posts: 3941 | Planet Earth II is now out. I imagine Attenborough's last hurrah, as he's gotta be in his 80's now. I'm only on Ep 2, but I am already quite floored. It could be simple shock having adjusted to 480p and dodgy streams, but the footage looks incredible, even by Attenborough standards. There have been several times I've forgotten all about the subject as I can't help but wonder just how in all hell some of these shots have been captured. I'm talking better than Superbowl replay level footage in both definition and camera work. True rating TBD, but so far it's 6 frolicking river otters out of 6. If you've any interest in nature docs, it's a must-see. Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it. |

It deals with abductions (children and young women) which is pretty grizzly subject matter, but it doesn't descend into darkness. It just skirts the edges while remaining fairly positive. Some of the Brit shows recently like Wallander, Black Mirror, Broadchurch and Marcella have remained black. You want to practically shoot yourself after watching them. "The Five" is kind of in-between. The writer is surprisingly, a young American. |

And that's why it hasn't turned dark. There is an increasing number of Nflix shows that are in foreign languages. I can always spot them by looking at the cast first. If they're all unattractive, it's an EU offering. Germany, France, there's even one from Eastern Europe. Swarthy people.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Netflix has 62.5 million foreign subscribers and 55 million in the U.S. Now obviously many of those foreign subscribers are in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom and many people speak English in other countries. But a high quality miniseries in Brazilian Portuguese is probably worth multiple Adam Sandler movies. |

Midge Maisel has the perfect Upper West Side life, then everything falls apart and she finds herself almost accidentally trying stand up comedy, discovers she likes it and is good at it. |

I'll look at it tonight. Waiting for the next season of Mozart on Prime.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
