There were no good examples! Nobody, and I mean nobody, talked about sex in the 50's. They didn't teach it in schools, they didn't teach in church, it wasn't discussed. When the Kinsey Report came out, people were shocked. When Playboy started in 1955, you would think it had pics of people having intercourse. It didn't even show pubic hair till the end of the 60's. People were obsessed with sex, obsessed with nobody seeing it or talking about it. I didn't have a traumatic experience, I had the same experience everybody else had. Little Catholic girls really were not allowed to wear patent leather shoes because boys might be able to see up their dresses. Nobody could utter the word pregnant on TV because it involves intercourse to get there. Husbands and wives slept in separate beds because we all knew what two people did in bed. It was an insane and obsessive time. What we see now is not obsession at all, it's acceptance of people's sexuality. How can that possibly be a bad thing, unless, of course your the sex obsessed Church.
Sex is not a gift, good grief. It's a natural function of our bodies. If you treat is as such, you have a chance at a normal sex life. It's when treat it as more than it is, like the obsessed Church does, that's when it gets all screwed up.
There are still people obsessed with sex, outside of Catholics, that is. But there are far less now than in the past. They had movies censors right up till the mid 60's that had a hundred things you couldn't say or do sexually in a movie. Censorship is the result of obsession. I personally don't care what people do as long as they're consenting adults. It's none of my business. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

And yet, blessing that it is, celibacy is the main reason priests quit the priesthood. Yes I have links that prove that, but all you'll do is ignore them or say they're lies, what's the point. There is a movement inside the Church even now to get rid of the 'blessing' of celibacy. Some even say it's a form of violence against those in the priesthood. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

It could easily be offered as an optional thing in the priesthood. It has Biblical roots and could help with vocations. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |
