It's basically as I always thought. It has zero to do with actual revelations from a god or a higher being, and more to do with socialization and our tendency to give imaginary powers to things that have no powers at all. It also explains why organized religions are being rebuffed by modern man for a more secular life. We have so many ways to communicate now that the need to meet once a week to pretend we're worshiping some god we can't see or hear is disappearing right before our eyes. We fulfill our social needs in so many other ways. We carry our social network right in our hands now, it's no longer in the church where we would catch up on all the 'news'. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
