This is basically what I do. My work is about a 45 min drive from my home. I will almost always get a customer or two on the way there and back. I'm going that way anyway so whatever I get is really a bonus. Also Drive on a Friday or Saturday night after work and would average about $30/hr before expenses. As a point of reference Min wage in Aus is just over $18/hr.

That's totally cool
If I had a long commute, I would definitely look into working for Uber
I love Uber
Never had a bad experience
I once needed them a 530am ride to the airport
Was a little concerned about the early time so made the arrangement days in advance
530am, Uber car sitting in my driveway :-)

My worst Uber driver was a black guy about
45 a month ago. He turned his boom box
sound system as loud as it would go (it seemed)
as soon an I got in his minivan. I was screaming
for him to turn it off and he finally did. Then
he opened all the windows so air was blowing
in my face the whole time. He had his phone
hooked into the stereo so it blasted it's commands
just as loud as the music had been.

When we got to the airport and I was getting out,
he said in a loud voice HEY! Where's my TIP?
I ignored him and shut the door. When I got home
I checked my CC and there was a charge on there
for the fare and an $80 cleaning fee. I emailed Uber
help and she said he has to file a report and send pics
of whatever damage I did that was worth $80. He
never did any of it and she released the charge. I hope
they fired him.

I didn't leave a negative FB because he knows where I
live. They say the drivers can't see who leaves a FB but
drivers say yes they can, there is a way. I don't trust a
hothead like that. That's only one of my bad Uber
drivers, there are others.

So let me get this straight, you constantly have bad experiences with Uber but continue to use then? What are you, some kind of masochist? You have other transportation options, I suggest you use them instead.

Regarding the comments you have been misinformed. The driver CAN NOT identify for certain who made the comment unless they identify themselves. The best they could do would be a guess based on a comment coming through immediately after a job. But then it could be from anyone. Suggest you wait a few days to make the comment and then the driver will truly have no idea at all.

Yep I love it. Uber gets a lot of negativity from its drivers if you read their forums but for me this is mainly people going in with the incorrect idea that they are going to make a fortune from it. You're not. The money is quite poor but for me it works for a few reasons:

1. My regular commute that I mentioned.

2. Not sure of tax laws in US but here we are required to register a business before driving Uber and with this comes a lot of tax write offs. So I am able to deduct a lot of car related expenses that I am paying anyway - registration, fuel, services, interest on my car loan and even depreciation on my vehicle.

3. I actually enjoy driving and the social aspect of talking to a wide variety of people.

I would not want to do it as a full time job but to and from work and then one night a week is very enjoyable IMO.

'Constant?' Really, you see the word constant
in my posts somewhere. No you don't.

I say constant because you have posted several stories of negative experiences. Most people would stop using a service after a couple of times. Like I said, masochist??

Yes says me who drives for Uber. Next time ask them to show you how. They won't be able to do it because it can't be done. It is simply educated guesswork on the part of the driver.

I do it because it's cheaper than parking my
car at the airport. There is another service,
Lyft, but most drivers work for both Uber
and Lyft now, so what's the difference.

Two months ago I called an Uber at the
airport and they can only pick up on the
business side, not the side where people
let off passengers. But only half the Uber
drivers know that. So I watch both sides.

A car pulls up on the wrong side way back
from the terminal. I wait and wait and my
phone rings and it's the driver saying
he's waiting. He tells me the color of his
car and I walk down there and he's furious
with me. A middle aged foreign man, he screams
when I open the passenger door: :DO YOU
THINK I HAVE ALL DAY TO WAIT FOR YOU?
NO RIDE FOR YOU TODAY!!!"

I point out that he's on the wrong side, he'll
get a ticket for picking up on that side. and
he gets even madder. He's screaming 'shut
the door, shut the f-ing door'. I back away
and he takes off with the door open and
finally stops 100 feet away, gets out and runs
around and closes it. If he had a gun. he would
have shot me.

So I called another car. I tell these stories to
every Uber that picks me up now, if they speak
English. They always have stories that they've
heard from other passengers, so I'm certainly
not alone in having bad experiences.

Just last Friday I had a guy in his 20's from
Somalia who spoke little English and didn't
know how to drive a car worth a damn. He
had no idea how to back up. He couldn't do
it. And all the way to the airport he drove with
one hand and had his phone in the other,
staring at it. He wandered over the center
line constantly, I would yell HEY or WATCH
OUT and he would jerk the wheel back only
to immediately stare at his phone again.

I kept telling him to leave the phone alone,
but he ignored me and did it the entire way,
cars in the oncoming lane were honking horns
and swerving to avoid a head on collision, I
thought I was gonna die.

We get the airport and there's a line of 5 stop
signs where people cross. You have to stop at
each one or you'll hit somebody or get a ticket.
He blasted thru the first 2 signs without even
slowing down, with me screaming at him. If
he's still alive today it's a miracle.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

I'm learning the hard way that
many Uber drivers have anger
issues. Last week I was waiting
at the airport at the right spot
and the Uber flew by me and
stopped 100 feet down. I didn't
know it was him because he had
no Uber sign in his window, which
many refuse to display.

I finally went down there and he
was pissed I kept him waiting. I
said how am I supposed to know
who you are when your Uber sign
is not displayed. He immediately
got furious and said call another
car if I didn't like it. I bit my lip
and held my temper and was nice
and kissed his ass and he took me.

Uber has some real problems. When
I drove cab I was thrilled when a
passenger found me, I was going to
get paid. Uber drivers are all about ego,
they're doing you a favor taking your
money.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

You seem to be the only person I have come across who has these issues. You're like a magnet for poor drivers. Sure once in a while something doesn't go perfectly by I've never seen anyone encounter problems at the rate you do. And to keep going back time and time again. It's quite comical!

It is weird
I use uber and have had great experiences.
Friends I know use Uber and love it
EB uses uber and a bad experience every time
Bottom line, I simply don't believe any EB stories. They simply don't make sense
