Every single one I ask, it was my business,
why wouldn't I. It's something we would
have in common. I suspect most ex cabbies
would work the city where all the short
runs are, that's where the money is. If
you constantly have a fare, or are going to
pick one up, you'll make money. Sitting on
your ass waiting is the killer, you're not
making a dime.

All you have to do is look on the Uber forums. Many topics discussing ex cab drivers coming to Uber and bringing their bad habits with them.

No argument that short jobs are better. Pretty sure I specifically said that. And also that avoiding short jobs is counter productive.

But let's get on to more important things like how the driver can allegedly find out who made comments. You were going to report back on how to do it right?

You really are so wrong on so many
things. I ask every single driver if
any of them have had any experience
in this biz before Uber and so far not
a single one has said yes. Not ONE.
That's at least 26 drivers so far.

Very few do it full time, there's no
money in it. Most have full time jobs
and this is very part time.

And?

I'm on the local Uber drivers forum and I
see no ex cab driver discussions. I had to
lie to get on there, I had to pretend I'm
a driver. But I know more than these schlubs
will ever know about this biz, I'm the expert
there. lol

Uber has a destination option that the driver can use twice a day. You put in the address of where you want to end up and Uber will only allocate you jobs that are going along that route. I use this on my 50 minute commute to and from work or if I am on the other side of town at the end of the night and want to go home. It will give me jobs along the way and won't add more than 10 minutes to the trip.

Thanks for the professional answer. I've been noodling around with the idea of doing this on my commute as I could get a long-haul fare, but I have some minor damage on my front fender. Not sure if it would pass muster.

This makes it quite obvious that you are full of it. You do not need to lie to get into the Uber drivers forums. In fact you don't even need to sign up. You just load the page. :S

What you know about is an industry that is dying because it's stuck in a time warp and refuses to adapt. You know very little about how the modern transportation world operates and it shows.

No problem.
Basically if you want to do it to and from work it is simply money for nothing. So why not?

I'm not sure what the requirements in your area would be but id say you will need a car in good condition and less than perhaps 8yrs old. The age thing (at least here) is because that is what is deemed to be the useful life of a car for accounting purposes - yes, we get to depreciate the vehicle on taxes too.

He is totally full of it
I just popped into the Uber forum myself
Don't have to pretend anything.

My issue is right now I drive about 60 miles each way and take a different way home than to. If I got a fare it may be sweet, but a limited market.

I may try, other than the small dent it is in perfect shape.

Sigh. It's a closed private group of drivers
only. They ask a series of questions like,
do you currently drive for Uber or Lyft,
how long have you done it, what is the
city you drive most in. I lied about all of
it and was admitted. Again you prove you
know nothing.

Exactly. It's embarrassing how easily the private forum claim can be shown up.
