It is not wisdom to throw away other's advice, wisdom, experience, and expertise.

What atheist does that? The ones I know are
very well read indeed. They just don't believe
in a god, that's all. You make far too much out
of nothing..

The soldiers that clung to their religion in WWII were either shot or imprisioned..

What are you talking about. The German
army had chaplains. Every soldier had a
Gott Mit Uns (God Is With Us) belt buckle.
They were not atheists. In 1939, six years
after Hitler came to power, 95% of Germans
identified themselves are Protestants or
Catholics. Hitler himself was raised as a
devout Catholic, he even went to a seminary
school as a child. He never gave up his
belief in god, though he did persecute
the Catholic clergy.

Does it seem to anyone else that Catholics act around the pope like teenage girls around a boy band?

Anyone with a sense of humor, telling the truth, would have to admit that right there, is funny.

I would bust a gut laughing, even if I was Catholic. I bet Catholics have heard the best Pope jokes?

If we can't laugh at ourselves we have lost the battle.

I was thinking the exact same thing last week.
Some of them were gushing with excitement,
like it was 1956 and Elvis was on stage. He's
an old guy in a white costume who was elected
a couple years ago by a bunch of other old guys.
Yippee.
