I don't decide for them, they
decide for them. If I don't
like what they decide, we
have a problem. The key
to living together as a
society is to be tolerant of
other peoples stupid
decisions as long as they
don't overly affect you.

Yeah, I can see that it is a problem, a big one. What is your solution. You don't seem very tolerant of the opinions of others who have determined what is good to them.

Nope. Ever hear of collateral damage?

I have heard of collateral damage and it is NOT at all the purposeful killing of innocent people. What you describe is a war crime not collateral damage. There are of course circumstances that change the nature of a act or your guilt in committing it. However purposefully killing an innocent person is always and in every case a bad thing.

Which genocide.

Did you really ask that? Do you know what genocide is? Would you ask, "Which rape? or which torture of children?" if asked to condemn all instances of them? Just admit it you are wrong. You seem like a wounded animal that is just lashing out unreasonably saying things more and more egregious just to avoid the fact that you need help. I'm sorry for pushing you to this point, I always think that with enough reasoning and good questioning you will simply acknowledge that you are wrong and we can move on. Instead you seem to go down the rabbit hole of more and more weird and untenable statements. Can we end this here now and save us both some heartache.

It's amazing to me that Bob knew a priest who didn't know this

When he was a priest in the early
60's most Catholic's went to confession,
unlike now. It was a major part of his
job to listen to the same confessions
over and over and over. 95% of
them were sex related, lusting after
somebody. After years of this it
wore him down, he saw no real purpose
in it. Forcing people to reveal their
most intimate thoughts was none
of his business, he felt.

Quote:
However, if you willfully lust after women and are gawking and dreaming about them all day.

14 year old boys do this, don't
know any adults who do. Seeing
a beautiful woman on a TV show
and having a brief thought about
her is natural, it's in our genes.
Without that impulse we would
never have the desire to reproduce
our species. But that's the Church's
job, to squash any natural sexual
desire.

Alan Watts was the chaplain at the
U of Chicago in the 40's. He says
the Church was absolutely obsessed
with sex. The book on sex and sexual
sins was three times as thick as all
the other books put together. Those
were the days when girls couldn't
wear patent leather shoes because
boys might be able to look up their
skirts. And I Love Lucy couldn't use
the word pregnant because it might
trigger men into thinking of the
filthy act that got her pregnant.
Insanity. Watts quit the priesthood
and became an authority on
Eastern religions.

In those days the Vatican had books
of rules and guidelines for priests
on every subject. Watts said the
one for sex was three times thicker
than all the others combined. He
talks a lot about the Church's
obsession with sex. He's been dead
50 years, so this is a long time ago.

You need to go back pretty far to find the use of "manuals" as they were called. I think he might have been using hyperbole to make a point that you took literally. There were no separate books or manuals for certain types of sins. In general our world, not the Church, makes a big deal about sex and lust.

Nope, he was very specific about it.
There were books on different
subjects put out by the Vatican.
Maybe they were Catechism
books. But they definitely existed.

Because the Church gradually
became obsessed with it!
Especially after they banned
priests from getting married
in the 11th century. Forbid
something and people become
obsessed with it. And it really
didn't work very well anyway.

"Despite the Latin Church's historical practice of priestly celibacy, there have been Catholic priests throughout the centuries who have engaged in sexual relations through the practice of concubinage. In February 2019, the Catholic Church acknowledged that the church's celibacy policy has not always been enforced and that at some point in history, the Vatican enacted secret rules to protect priests who violated their vows of celibacy. The rules even applied to Catholic clergy who fathered children by doing so as well. Some of those who were fathered by Catholic clergy also publicly came forward."

Do you agree with this priest? He's
in huge trouble with the Vatican
for speaking the truth.

Are you aware of this story? A priest
was baptized in 1990 by a priest who
used the word 'we' instead of 'I' and
thereby making the baptism invalid.
This meant the baby wasn't really
a Xtion and therefore was not a
priest himself now. All the masses
he gave, weddings, last rights, were
all invalid. It's an insane story.

Sounds like something out of Harry Potter where the exact language of a spell must be used in order for it to work
