Primitives invent a god that explains everything because they have no idea how to explain anything themselves. It's very easy when you have a textbook that explains some science, and you build on that. Discovering the original science is monumentally difficult, better to just blame everything on the supernatural, a god. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Sure you do, wholeheartedly. It's all you've got, in fact. You certainly don't have a shred of real evidence for any gods existence. A Xtion saying he doesn't believe in a god of the gaps is like the heroin addict who says he can quit anytime he likes. He's kidding himself.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I don't do that I turn to my love of science for those answers. The questions God answers are those not able to be addressed by science. Things like why is there something rather than nothing? Why am I here? What us my purpose? What should I do and what us love and happiness? “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

That's not a legitimate question. Something and nothing coexist, you can't have one without the other. Like light and dark.
Why not here, it's as good a place as any. Where would you rather be.
Whatever you want it to be, how else. No purpose lies outside of yourself, how could it. You create your own reality.
Whatever you feel you should do, follow your bliss.
You'll know it when you have it, it's different for everybody. See, those are easy questions to answer, you don't have to invent a god to do it. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

FrGamble Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 67 Posts: 7596 | Wow, you are so egotistical in these answers. You haven't rejected God, you've just made yourself into one. It is the oldest sin. You make yourself into the center of the universe. Follow my bliss, no outside reality than myself, I create my own meaning. This is the type of twisted thinking that is the cause of all of the problems in our world today. We need religion precisely to combat this stinking thinking. In regards to your statement about nothingness you are not being scientific. Everything, even what you preceive as nothing is something. Even space has dimensions and is in time. What do you mean when you say nothingness exists? Where? How do you know it exists? “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Of course, and so have you. There is no real god, so thou art god. The difference is, you wear a a white collar proclaiming your godliness, and I'm more subtle about it. Duh.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

First of all I'm surprised that all your weird arguments about Christianity being egotistical so easily just crashed down around you. All this time you were being the most egotistical of all and claiming to be God. You might call it subtle, but I really wish you were more honest or more consistent with your arguments. Anyway, your claim of ultimate hubris to be God could not be further from me. I claim nothing other than I am a loved sinner and that God is God and I am not. He must increase and I must decrease. My life is not my own, but I serve Jesus Christ and the Church He established. I see absolutely zero similarities between your thoughts and mine. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Do an exercise, pretend for one minute that no god exists. If that's the case, of course you have set yourself up as a god, your whole church has. If you allegedly represent an entity that doesn't exist, then you yourself are that entity and have the authority to torture people who don't agree with you, and even burn them at the stake if you wish. You have the 'authority' to do anything you like in the name of that god you can't even prove exists. Scary, huh. And that's the history of your church. Scary in capital letters. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
