Trump likes being a host more than being a guest.

I think that is a big part of it. Here is in July 2020 hosting Mexico's Current President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) an avowed socialist. By all accounts the meeting was very friendly and civilized.

The one country that President Trump has visited with equal or more frequency than his predecessors is France

Era of the B747 only (visits to France by POTUS)
George H. W. Bush July 13–17, 1989 France Paris Attended the 15th G7 summit.
George H. W. Bush November 18–21, 1990 France Paris Attended the CSCE Summit Meeting
George H. W. Bush July 14, 1991 France Rambouillet Discussed further sanctions against Iraq with President François Mitterrand.
George H. W. Bush January 3–5, 1993 France Paris Discussed the Bosnian crisis with President François Mitterrand.
Bill Clinton June 6–8, 1994 France Colleville, Paris Attended the 50th anniversary of D-Day memorial ceremonies.
Bill Clinton December 14, 1995 France Paris Attended the signing of the Bosnian peace treaty.
Bill Clinton June 27–29, 1996 France Lyon, Pérouges, Paris Attended the 22nd G7 summit.
Bill Clinton May 26–27, 1997 France Paris Attended the NATO Summit Meeting
Bill Clinton June 16–17, 1999 France Paris Discussed peacekeeping in Kosovo with President Jacques Chirac
George W. Bush May 26–27, 2002 France Paris, Sainte-Mère-Église, Colleville Delivered a Memorial Day address.
George W. Bush June 1–2, 2003 France Evian-les-Bains Attended the 29th G8 summit.
George W. Bush June 5–6, 2004 France Paris, Colleville, Caen, Arromanches Attended the 60th anniversary of D-Day ceremonies.
George W. Bush June 13–15, 2008 France Paris Met with President Nicolas Sarkozy. Addressed the OECD.
Barack Obama April 3–4, 2009 France Strasbourg Attended the NATO Summit Meeting.
Barack Obama June 5–7, 2009 France Paris, Caen, Normandy Met with President Nicolas Sarkozy
Barack Obama May 26–27, 2011 France Deauville, Paris Attended the 37th G8 summit.
Barack Obama November 3–4, 2011 France Cannes Attended the G20 summit.
Barack Obama June 5–6, 2014 France Paris Attended the 70th anniversary of D-Day memorial ceremonies.
Barack Obama November 29 – December 1, 2015 France Paris Attended the United Nations Climate Change Conference.
Donald Trump July 13–14, 2017 France Paris Met with President Emmanuel Macron. Participated in the Bastille Day celebrations.
Donald Trump November 9–11, 2018 France Participated in the Armistice Day celebrations.
Donald Trump June 6, 2019 France Colleville, Caen Attended the 75th anniversary of D-Day memorial ceremonies.
Donald Trump August 24–26, 2019 France Biarritz Attended the 45th G7 summit.

The major countries in Europe have some obligatory meetings, the G7/G8/G20 and Nato meetings. Also Ronald Reagan's stirring speech at the 40th anniversary D-Day landings at Normandy Beach on June 6, 1984 made the 10th anniversary sort of obligatory for US Presidents. (Now 75 th anniversary)

But Trump's extra visit for Bastille Day 2017 and Armistice Day 2018 was undoubtedly a reflection of his initial personal friendship with Emmanuel Macron. These two trips were isolates, in that he did not visit another country, nor was there a summit meeting. But Trump-Macron relationships deteriorated rapidly just days after the Armistice Day visit in 2018.

Emmanuel Macron suggests building its own army to protect Europe against the U.S., China and Russia. But it was Germany in World Wars One & Two - How did that work out for France? They were starting to learn German in Paris before the U.S. came along. Pay for NATO or not!

Probably staged. We never did see them close the door and the plane take off. LOL

The East Asia Summit (EAS) is scheduled for a week after the election in Hanoi, followed by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Kuala Lumpur (1300 mile flight) the next day.

On November 21–22, the 15th G20 Summit is being held in Saudi Arabia at Riyadh

While Trump has been a no-show for the EAS and APEC summits in the last two years, I don't really expect him to fly out of the country so close to the election in 2020. But no US POTUS has ever missed a G20 Summit.

Barack Obama scheduled a major Asian trip after his second Presidential election.
November 18–19, 2012 Thailand Bangkok
November 19, 2012 Myanmar (Burma) Yangon
November 19–20, 2012 Cambodia Phnom Penh Attended 21st ASEAN summit; 7th East Asia Summit

Trump's last two international trips
January 21–22, 2020 Switzerland Davos Attended the World Economic Forum
February 24–25, 2020 India Ahmedabad, Agra, New Delhi Addressed a "Namaste (Welcome) Trump" event with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad.

If Trump becomes a lame duck, where do you think he will go? Nowhere is a possibility.

The G20 summit was held virtually this weekend, so it looks like Trump is not going to travel internationally in his lame duck period.

Trump is by far the least "international traveled" president in the last 30 years since the modified B747s were delivered.
  • Trump went to Canada only one time for a G7 summit,
  • Trump made only one trip to Latin America (to Argentina for a G20 summit).
  • Trump did not go to Oceania (Australia and New Zealand).
  • Trump never visited Africa. Obama, GW Bush, and Bill Clinton all went to Africa

Trump visited 9 European countries and Vatican city (although some countries more than once)
One: Finland, Poland, Vatican City
Two: Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland
Three: United Kingdom
Four: France

Trump visited several Asian and Middle East countries
One: China, India, North Korea, Singapore, Philippines, Afghanistan, Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the disputed West Bank
Two: South Korea and Vietnam
Three: Japan

Final two international visits.
January 21–22, 2020 Switzerland Attended the World Economic Forum;
February 24–25, 2020 India Addressed a "Namaste (Welcome) Trump" event .

Nothing but a bunch of social calls and speeches over thirty years, with only a single treaty in 1993.

Those presidents should have been negotiating instead of backslapping.

In less than four years, Trump sealed a border security agreement with Mexico, trade deals with Japan, South Korea, the E.U., Canada, Mexico, a phase one trade agreement with China, and brokered agreements formalizing the normalization of relations between Israeli, Bahrain, and the U.A.E.

I would love to see the President take a flight in a Cessna 152 just so it would be labelled Air Force One.

I don't think the POTUS can ride in any vehicle that is not his own. He can't even open his own car doors. There are no handles.

I just learned that a former POTUS cannot drive a car on public roads ever again.
The President is a fink.
