And the problem with my plan is...?

Another thing I have noticed is that, many non working younger people [20's-30's] who can't seem to find steady employment, when taken aside, have stated openly that they are anxious to receive 'their' inheritance. They are consciously waiting for someone in the family to die and leave them some money as an economic plan .

I know somebody like that. He got
a $180K inheritance when he was
18 and blew it in 6 months. Nobody
could talk him out of making a fool
of himself. After that his next goal
was waiting for grandma to die. He
got a much smaller amount that time
and blew it. His mom got the majority, so
now he's 42 and living with her waiting
for his next windfall. As a person he's
a total waste of space.

When I was younger, I wouldn't have believed that people could actually get through their whole lives without having to work. I am now witnessing it.

Why work, when "everything is free"?

There is something more to working than a paycheck. Work gives us dignity and a sense of worth. This is why I think it is so important for everyone to have a job of some kind. There was a really good point made earlier that not every job is meant to provide a "living wage" for someone and I can agree with that. However, a full time 40 hour a week job should provide you with a living wage.

This guy is still bitter 22 years later
that the adults didn't 'stop him'
from blowing $180K. It's a joke,
everybody tried to stop him from
buying 40 pairs of shoes and 2 cars
and a truck and throwing parties
for his friends all the time. He was
unstoppable, he listened to nobody.

I have one of those in my family. Was in his thirty's and bought his 30ish girlfriend liposuction and a new car and put her in a local college. Because, "that's what granny would have wanted". I don't know what that cost, but it was surely wasted. The two of them tried going pro by moving in with old people and getting their power of attorney. They had another fish on the line, but the old guy smoked cigars and they couldn't stand the smoke.

And, he is bitter that no one stopped him either.... How?

People have no idea. It is not just in humans, either. We had to put my mother's dog away yesterday, was in bad shape. But up until a few years ago when her back legs went out, she could not wait to go outside and get the morning paper. She got a treat for it, but it was meaning for her. I always wanted to bring some of these types who think it is 'cruel' do demand welfare recipients do some kind of work over to see it. And remember, this was a Labrador Retriever, imagine a human with no job or purpose.

I will agree to disagree on the living wage discussion.

And the people talking about the "living wage", also get to define what living is.

Every job paying a living wage is called
socialism. It works in very small countries
where people have a good work ethic
and don't mind a 90% tax bracket.

It would never work here for about a hundred
reasons.
