Always sad when a plane goes down
Was it terrorism?
The airline is pointing in that direction.
I don't think we should assume that till we have more info

Its not a carrier I book a lot but have occasionally just to bounce around the middle east

Its a carrier I am uncomfortable with because I feel they still have not admitted pilot fault in Flight 990 that crashed

I understand from news reports that the radar track showed the plane making a sharp 90 degree turn, then spiraling in the opposite direction a full 360. Hard to blame mechanical failure if that was actually the case.

What is the security screening like at the flight's airport of origin?

The airport of origin was Paris.

Seems like they should have high security standards...

Are those turns from primary or secondary radar returns?

Evasive action from an attacking fighter seems unlikely, struggle in the cockpit perhaps or reaction to an onboard event that affected a control surface?

The final nail in the coffin of Egypt tourism.
It's 100% certain it was done on purpose.

With no tourism revenues, airliners become even more expensive.

Debris that was located has been pronounced as 'definitely not from any airplane'.

It seems as if the crash occurred only 10 minutes before its scheduled arrival at Cairo International Airport. Cairo only has nonstops to JFK and Toronto-Pearson in the Americas. Cairo is second only to Johannesburg as the busiest airport in Africa.

Perhaps the terrorists intended for the plane to blow up at the airport on the runway or at the terminal.

Well, if it was an explosion then a timing device is likely and unless the plane was behind schedule it was not intended to detonate on the tarmac which of course would be far less destructive than exploding at altitude. Explosive decompression is what destroys an aircraft, a bomb at sea level pressure just blows out a few seats and some metal debris but does not collapse floors or affect engines and control surfaces.

Amazing how many positive pronouncements on the cause have been made before even the wreckage is found.

Sure. It could be terrorism. It could also be any of a number of other things.

Plane left 36 minutes late and vanished 15 minutes before it's scheduled landing time.

Of course. If your objective is to kill those 66 people on the plane, then you should take advantage of environmental forces. But if your objective is to shut down the airport, and wreck economic damage, then you should have a bomb go off on the ground. AFAIK, the airport is functioning as normal.

The A320 that was flying that route is normally covered by a B737, so they have resumed that route after a one day period with the normal plane.
