Reading the original post again,

Are you suggesting that the church should perform 'consecrated friendship' services for same sex couples, and then go ahead and file the civil marriage license?

The Roman Catholic church did something similar to that in the past....

In many places outside the US it is up to the couple to first obtain the civil marriage and then celebrate the Religious ceremony.

Are you suggesting that same sex couples, if married by the state, should be allowed to have a 'consecrated friendship' ceremony?

Yes. There would be preparation program and such in regards to helping the couple live a long and healthy life together, but yes.

And you missed my point completely as well. Science and economics are not to be used as evaluations of if something is moral at all. They are only tools and facts that go into the bigger discussion of the morality of the act. They are precise and give relevant facts but that is all they do.

This is idiotic. I wish Plato and Aristotle were here to slap you.
All ethics and morality are clearly situational.

That is an interesting idea.

I don't think you will have many takers with that chastity requirement though, and with still labeling homosexual acts as sins. You still aren't giving them the same rights as a heterosexual couple.
