I remember a large bunch of kids gathered on a hill and singing I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing In Perfect Harmony .... Coke ad.

Just got back from Auschwitz. This was my second time there and this time was different. It was a very somber and prayerful walk through the camps. Maybe it was the crowds, maybe it was the prayers, but that awful place felt more hopeful than my experience before.

Your god answered no prayers there
75 years ago, what's changed. Oh, the
camps were finally liberated, too little
too late. That was inevitable, god had
nothing to do with it. God changed
water into wine, the least he could have
done in make the killer gas inert. He
didn't do it because he doesn't exist.
Obviously.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

There were many prayers answered there and for those who knew God was with them and suffering with them that truth was something they could hold onto that no torture could take away.

Okay so World Youth Day officially begins tomorrow and goes till Sunday. This place is just popping, it is so amazing! Everywhere you look there is some pilgrim group from some far off land. Everyone is seeming to have a great time even if it is all a little overwhelming for some.

So what you're saying is, god is powerless
and useless. You can pray to him but he
can't answer or do anything for you, all
he can do is 'suffer' with you. My dog
does that and I don't even have to deify
him. And he really does love me, unlike
that tricky love of your god that nobody
can seem pin down.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Lots of like minded people getting together
in a large group is always 'popping'. Ever been
to a big Nascar event? I was at Watkins Glen
in 1973, I popped for the next decade after
that. You're trying to imply that a bunch of
Christians getting together is different from
any other group that gathers in large numbers.
It's not.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Auschwitz really isn't part of this thread but since its been brought up... what strength did God give those who had to wait briefly outside the shower doors, they always voided bladders and bowels.

Truly, if you can justify the idea that god intervened successfully at Auschwitz, you can defend god against any charge. Who is he again? All powerful and all loving?

What a demonstration of intervention.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

God waited for the Yanks to arrive, just like
everybody else. The Holocaust is evidence
that no god exists. If he did exist, and he let it
happen to the people he promised to
protect, what good is he to anybody.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.
