No they don't get High Definition.

<shrug>

Honestly there isn't much of a difference. I do get HD with Blu Ray and with Netflix. Yes, there is a noticeable difference, but it's not a big deal for most TV shows. In part it's because my TV is 720 rather than full HD. But my PC monitor is full HD (which means it's way outdated by now, due to 4K), I do play video on it and the difference isn't all that impressive, either.

F.C.C. Delays Vote on Cable Set-Top Boxes
By CECILIA KANGSEPT. 29, 2016

We never really followed up on this thread. The outcome was that the FCC never had this vote.

Just to recap, the "integration ban" that went into place on 1 July 2007 mandated that all cable boxes have this Cable Card

At the time the most popular set top box was the Motorola DCT7000 (like Nareed has), so the American cable companies were prevented by regulation from installing any new DCT7000.
