Der Bingle! People now don't realize what a huge star Bing was in the 30's and 40's. He got in on the very start of radio and was the number one recording artist in the world for a couple decades. He teamed up with Bob Hope for the Road pictures in the 40's and became even more famous. This song won an Oscar for best song of 1944 in Going My Way, where Bing played a priest. Written by Jimmy Van Huesen after Bing told one of his kids he would be a mule if he didn't go to school.  If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
