Imagine if Tom Brady had to fill out a form every time he completed a pass....

Do your military doctors fill out a forms every time they treat a patient? (other than normal doctor's treatment records)

I know they don't in the US, point being, you can have socialist system without all that.

I think it's ridiculous that insurance companies require justification for payment for EVERY single patient. If that's what they do. Then they may override a doctors decision and refuse to pay.

Instead of that, they should do random audits.

You should be able to catch medical fraud in random audits without examining and justifying every single charge of every patient. I'm not sure what a sufficient level of audits would be sufficient, but it's likely there's data on that. Maybe you can reduce 90% of the paperwork mountain?

NO. Elective surgery is a lousy comparison for reducing costs. If you can't afford it, you don't get it.

Whereas non-elective surgery means you have to get something done, people have to pay or suffer or die.

But you might still shop around. I have change doctors for one with more history with my family than one located closer. I have changed dentists for one I like better more than once. Competition is competition. IOW, the example is a good one.

That's for a GP which is a wide spread service. It's not a good example for specific, rare and acute needs.

Nothing will be a good example for everything. It is a good general example.

You are missing a very specific feature of health care though. It's not a fungible, low barrier commodity service. The expensive part is bespoke and unique. It's time critical. So your example has massive problems for saying that the free market works, look at X. You need better evidence than Lasik for acute care needs.
