Suppose you order something to-go, or "carry out" as they say in Australia, at a restaurant that is normally dine in. How much do you tip? Vote for all that apply.

Usually nothing for take out. The service being provided is minimal so the tip is as well. That being said I rarely take out in the first place.

I would never tip for take out. Why would I? When I sit down, I tip the waitress for the multiple fetches I send her on, or timely service.

Somebody had to fetch your food from the kitchen and box it up. Why isn't this mystery person deserving of a tip?

So, do you tip at McDonald's? If not, why not?

Its not personalized service.
Its like buying anything else without much personal service
I don't tip the person filling my grocery bag and they do more work then a person boxing a to go order.

I used to be a cash person and would tip whatever the pocket change was dropping it into the jar.
I now pay strictly with a card never tipping for a to go order.

I do think its appropriate to tip to go if its a huge to go order but not absolutely necessary.

Unlike Mr Pink in Reservoir Dogs, I always tip the waitress when eating out

Because they don't have a tip jar, like they do at Starbucks.

If minimum wage goes to $15 and hour, and it includes people who prepare food, tend the counter, and serving staff, I'm done with tipping.

I usually tip a small amount to the waitress because I assume the waitress took your order and then boxed it up and brought it to me. I would guess $2 to $5 depending on the order. I definitely don't use a specific %.

Sometimes its the waitress
but
my experience in traditional sit down places
Sometimes I'm sent to the bar and the bartender goes into the kitchen to get the order already packed by the kitchen staff
Sometimes I'm instructed to wait at the entrance while the hostess heads back to the kitchen to grab the order already packaged by the kitchen
Sometimes its the manager that takes care of this extra duty freeing the waitresses for the tables
Some places have a special counter just for take outs.
