Nothing against Kennedy but what did he do in his less than one term that was so great besides staring down the Soviets (peace thru strength).

Probably bedded more women in the white house than any other president. That is a record for Trump to strive for although his libido might not be up to it at his age.

I don't understand the list.

noun: aggregate; plural noun: aggregates
1. a whole formed by combining several (typically disparate) elements.

It can't be best presidents, Kennedy is on it.

Aggregate of all polls up to American Political Science Association (APSA) 2015 by ranking each president's ratio of favorable to total pairwise comparisons, excluding ties.

I am only counting polls of historians and political scientists. Popular opinion tends to favor Ronald Reagan because he is the POTUS people remember.

Siena Research Institute (SRI) is an affiliate of Siena College, located originally in Friars Hall and now in Hines Hall on the college's campus, in Loudonville, New York, in suburban Albany. It was founded in 1980. It conducts both expert and public opinion polls, focusing on New York State and the United States, on issues of public policy interest. They include education, health care, and consumer confidence, and explores business, economic, political, voter, social, educational, and historical issues. Out of 16 polls since 1982 Siena is responsible for five.

JFK ranking over the 16 polls, so he was ranked #11 aggregate. The individual polls ranked him as high as #6 and as low as #18.
  1. 13 M-B 1982
  2. 14 CT 1982
  3. 8 Siena 1982
  4. 10 Siena 1990
  5. 10 Siena 1994
  6. 15 R-McI 1996
  7. 12 Schl. 1996
  8. 8 C-SPAN 1999
  9. 18 WSJ 2000
  10. 14 Siena 2002
  11. 15 WSJ 2005
  12. 11 Times 2008
  13. 6 C-SPAN 2009
  14. 11 Siena 2010
  15. 15 USPC 2011
  16. 14 APSA 2015

Lincoln was ranked #1 8 times, and #2 6 times, and #3 2 times.
Arthur Meier Schlesinger Jr. (October 15, 1917 - February 28, 2007) was an American historian, social critic, and public intellectual. He conducted two polls in 1948 and 1962, both of which ranked Lincoln #1.

So in aggregate, of the 18 polls, Lincoln was ranked #1

All 18 polls always had the following six presidents in the top eight, except the 1962 poll which had Truman ranked as #9.
16 Abraham Lincoln Republican
32 Franklin D. Roosevelt Democratic
01 George Washington Independent
03 Thomas Jefferson Dem-Repub
26 Theodore Roosevelt Republican
33 Harry S. Truman Democratic

There are dozens of good articles out
there as to why Kennedy was the worst
president of the 20th century. Getting
murdered in office was the greatest PR
move that happened to him.

Prominent among his faults, he started
the Vietnam War, and like all Dem's
of the era, dragged his feet on a civil
rights bill. It was Nixon who was friends
with MLK, not Kennedy. Because JFK
was handsome and charming, and died,
people have a distorted memory of him.
The Kenney's were raised in a virulently
racist family, his father Joe Kennedy would
say horrible racist things right to black
people faces, in public. He was a an awful
person.

Guiding the country through war(s) gets you on the list, but I question the validity of aggregating polls that cover such a wide span of time since some potential candidates for "greatest" could not be compared.

That being said, I would vote for Lincoln. Polk on the list cracks me up, since I doubt even 1 in 10,000 random people would name him if asked to recall all the POTUS'.

More like a disagreement with all of Mexico. Things worked out nicely for a coast-to-coast USA in short order though... "Manifest Destiny" and all that.

USA used the land better than Mexico ever could have. Just too bad we didn't take Baja California when they offered it.
The President is a fink.

Until Nov. 8, 2016, I'd have told you it's too bad that wasn't really true.

Not any more.

Which is why Lincoln is the single greatest President.

Hey, look at that... full circle.
