Frank was a mama's boy only child. His mother was a powerful old country Italian woman, she spoiled Frank and gave him whatever he wanted. She bought him an expensive microphone and amplifier when he was a teen to help with his singing. She ruled her husband and son and Frank doted on her all his life. When Rickles mom told Franks mom to give Don a break and attend a show, Frank did so willingly. Sinatra would have normally had one of his bodyguards beat the crap out of a comedian for insulting him, but he went along with it because he had to. When Frank saw Rickles treated everybody that way and it was an honor to be singled out by him, they became lifetime friends. (This is my 10K post) If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Rickles was OK on the late TV circuit. I always thought his stand up routine on the road was gross and juvenile. He went out of his way to get laughs by being cruel to people in the audience. Not just little jabs, but really really cruel attacks. I always thought it amazing that one of those people didn't beat the living crap out of him. He especially liked to go after men married to fat women. I don't care in what spirit it was delivered, women do not like being mocked for their weight by anybody at any time. I always looked at Rickles as a bitter little man who got his jollies making people feel like crap all in the name of 'comedy'. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

There is a comedian in Las Vegas that goes by the name Vinnie Favorito. He is the current day Don Rickles with basically the same act. At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent. |

That was the cleaned up TV Rickles, not the foul mouthed night club Rickles that mercilessly hurt peoples feeling for a laugh. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Of course, you're a guy that likes to see babies beheaded on TV, I forgot. Watching Rickles tear people apart would be delight a person like you. As long as he didn't do it TO you, and send you into therapy 3 days a week. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Wait, you worry about hurting people's feelings? Hah! Actually, come to think of it, I think my favorite insult comic is a puppet. You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really? |
