Hugh's impact on the sixties and seventies is hard to overstate...

I think the negative impact has to be mentioned too though. Would Bill Cosby's drug fueled sex with underage teens have happened without Mr. Hefner and what he promoted? Many girl's and women's lives were negatively impacted, both directly by exploits at his "mansion" and clubs, and indirectly by the culture of promiscuity without responsibility and standard of "beauty" he actively promoted.

Good story. I can't imagine being a 12-year-old boy today where you see anything you want for free online. Seems too easy.

We all have Playboy stories, my dad had
a couple issues under his mattress. Imagine
having to hide what was really an innocent
magazine. That was 1960.

I really do not feel sorry for any antics at the mansion. It is not as if they thought they were going to Disneyland. I have gotten the same way about women who claim these athletes did this or that after they met them at some bar or club.

That is really a sad consequence of our connectedness, there is no restraint expected anymore which makes everything sort of blase. Maybe taboos exist for a reason.

Kids today! They don't appreciate nudity. In my day we had to work for it. We couldn't just see it anytime we wanted.

I remember searching for bra ads in the Sears catalog.

In the 50's, Sears and Wards and catalogs
were all a kid had. Underwear ads, those
were the days.

The stuff freely available today goes a little beyond just nudity. Beautiful woman good, sick unrealistic porn not so much.
