And I hated that intro/outro music too.

Don Knotts made the Griffith show a
hit. And he was cast as an afterthought.
Knotts saw the pilot on TV, called his
friend Andy and said the sheriff should
have a deputy. Knotts got the job and
Andy knew right away he was golden
in the part and let him have all the
comedy lines and Andy played the
straight man. Knotts won an Emmy
every year he was on the show.

I'd guess their screen time on the show was about the same amount.

As for Aunt Bee, you probably only had 20 percent chance of working with her on any given day.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

Don Knotts made the Griffith show a
hit....

A good friend of mine knew Don Knotts because his grandfather lived in the same apartment building in or near Beverly Hills. He said Knotts was the nicest guy you could ever hope to meet. They often knocked on his door and he happily let them in and regaled them with Hollywood stories. I got the impression he was as kind as his character on the AG show, but not as stupid.

Andy says he was the straight man
for everybody on the show. But any
comic will tell you, a good straight
man is 80% of any act. Lewis said
it about Martin, Costello said it
about Abbot. Don Knotts said
it about Andy. Their timing has
to be impeccable, and Andy's was
flawless.

Things I learned about I Love Lucy. She
was continually on the air in a sitcom
on CBS from 1951-1974. I had no idea,
I never watched any of her later shows.

Vivian Vance and Bill Frawley, Fred &
Ethyl on I Love Lucy, hated each
others guts. Never spoke to each other
outside of the script. He was such a
jerk and had been kicked off so many
movie sets, that Dezi gave him a
warning when he hired him, behave
or you're done.

Vivian Vance had worked with him before
and wanted nothing to do with him. When
he finally died years later her comment was:
"Hooray, break out the champagne."

I think I know but would have to Google - which I consider cheating so I will not answer
Plus, I was never a fan of I Love Lucy (not that that means anything)

I remember the names Here's Lucy and the Lucy
Show. But I really didn't think she was very funny
and never watched.

What's ironic is, she was very serious in real life
and not funny at all. Her daughter says she ran
their home like a drill instructor and never joked
at all.. Jerry Lewis was the same way, except
not only was he not funny, he was an egotistical
asshole. Never thought he was funny either.

I have yet to watch one episode of any of her shows.
