The press is there for one reason now, not to report the news, but to make news. To make their own headlines. Somebody who was on the Trump press plane is coming out with a tell all book this week about what really happened behind the scenes on the plane. He couldn't talk about it as it was happening because they had a rule, if you opened your mouth you were off the plane. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Assuming the move happens it is a master stroke by Trump. No POTUS will get away with muzzling the entire press. But Trump looks to be doing an end-run and will dilute the press! Just kill their clubby little franchise. Master stroke! The President is a fink. |

Why bring documents to show off at a press conference, if you're not going to actually show them to anyone? And can you imagine the outrage if a Democrat did the same thing? Hell, if a real Republican did the same thing? I wish Trump would crawl back to whatever sewer spawned him. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

It might work if Trump was an honest man, or at least as honest as Bush or Reagan. But it will just generate as much push back as support. You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really? |

I'm all for reporting the facts and then having an opinion piece on what happened--just keep the line there. Factual report--Trump brought documents to the meeting that he claimed would show that he intended to __________________________. This reporter asked to look at those sheets and was told that they contained confidential company information. When asked why documents were presented and not allowed to be viewed, Trump said: ________________________________________________________ or a Trump spokesperson said: ________________________________________________________. Add any further information about investigating the documents.... THEN have an OpEd piece: Mr. Trump's waving of documents at his news conference appeared to be an attempt to convince people he was trying to _______________________________, but his refusal to actually show our reporter these documents shows that he clearly has no intention to actually prove anything relevant to this issue. This behavior is unacceptable. Keep the reporting and the opinions apart. If the reporting starts off as an attack, you always lose one side of the argument. if the reporting convinces the reader that there is a cover up without saying it exactly like that, the reader is gathering his own info and not being told what to think. The press has lost respect of most folks because they have devolved into a bunch of people trying to tell us what to think. |

The press is already 100% against Trump, they can't get anymore against him if they tried. This is a perfect time to shake things up, when they hate your guts already. Dilute their power, water it down. Make the blogger in his basement as important as the NYT. It's a brilliant move if they indeed do it. The media showed, in it's blatant prejudice against Trump, that they can no longer be trusted to be impartial reporters. One of the few things Obama said that I agree with was: "Elections have consequences." Yup, they sure do, as he's about to find out. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Nope, I'm talking about pushback from the public. And end run only works if you're honest, not dishonest and/or mistaken. Something Trump has already managed to be already many times. He says something and then later retracts the tweet. Get a grip, your rah rah pom pom cheer for how Trump is going to win people over, so far has no tracks to run that train on. You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really? |

The public will not care that the press pool gets diluted. A few faculty lounge types will cry about "real journalism" but far more will love seeing the dishonest lamestreams cut to size. The rest just care who won the big game or what some starlet is doing with her life. The President is a fink. |

I think it's funny you think so many hold your view. He got elected, he didn't cause a mass conversion. You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really? |
