Awesome that he is meeting with a UAW boss. That is the kind of thing that gets you small victories that add up. Obama spent his time crowing about how he won and for the GOP to go sit in back and let him drive. Trump so far understands the election is over and is getting to work.

Trump impresses a UAW boss with a visit, then some more with better trade terms protecting domestic production. Then he can call the UAW boss to put pressure on Democrat Senators to break a filibuster or some other thing. Trump knows how people operate.

In light of my previous comment, I am not going to make a bad analogy here, today. I'm waiting for the 100 days to be over.

Meanwhile Mexico says it will not meet with Trump as the Peso keeps losing value. Such a wonderful thing.

Mexico is one of the most corrupt countries
in the world. Many say it's so corrupt it's not
even a functioning democracy.

Any country that has to keep offloading people to a neighboring country and the same offloads have to send money back so the place does not collapse can only be called a failed state. Trump knows Mexico has no leverage and is treating her as such. Maybe in the end he helps drain the swamp in Mexico City as well.

They're floating a 20% tariff on Mexican goods to pay for the wall.

That. Is. A. Horrible. Idea.

Better buy all the TVs, cars, clothes, etc. you'll need for the next four years RIGHT NOW.

Actually it is an awesome idea. Show that we mean business.

Mexico needs to take things seriously, this should do that.

Ahhh... I was hoping some rightie would pretend it's a good idea. Shows you don't think before you blindly praise anything Donald does.

Anyone with an Econ 101 level knowledge of economics knows that American consumers would be the ones who end up shouldering the 20% tariff, so Americans WOULD be paying for the dumb wall.

But don't worry.... Sean Spicer already walked back this idea about an hour ago cause they realized how stupid it was.

69% of our fresh vegetables and 37% of our fresh fruits, by value, comes from Mexico.

Getting Mexico to pay is a horrible idea to begin with. What's the payment for? Reparations? Sovereign debt? Seized property?

No. It's an effective campaign promise, nothing more. As such, it's awful but not terrible. As policy it's outright theft and an unprovoked act of aggression. In simple terms, it's bullying on an international scale.
