Dude, you're doing this in winter. I sleep 12 hours a day when I can get away with it. It'll get better come spring, and by that time you'll have mostly adjusted to the change in habit. It'll sort out, wait and see. You've already saved enough for a tank and pumps. Few more weeks and you can be out digging in the cricks =) Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it. |

ewjones Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 6 Posts: 32 | I've always heard cold turkey is the best way.. I've tried to quit by weening myself off, but that hasn't worked. Although I've gone from 10-14 cigs at work down to 5-7. The cold weather was the motivation but I've got used to it now. The next step will be cutting cigs from mornings and evenings. |

JB Administrator Member since: Oct 23, 2012 Threads: 10 Posts: 111 | Still going. A week or two ago I threw out the 7 cigarettes that I had left over from before quitting. However, I did buy a pack the other night because I was this close to lighting one up, although I still haven't yet. It can be a real bitch at times! And I know this doesn't "prove" anything, but here is the pack I bought the other night, with all 20 cigarettes still in it (though not all are visible) - I took this picture after starting to write this post: |

I disagree. Having them nearby provides a massive amount of comfort, plus I can take one out and pretend to smoke it (indoors!) without actually lighting it up. |

JB Administrator Member since: Oct 23, 2012 Threads: 10 Posts: 111 | I survived a 3-day/2-night trip to Foxwoods, with the above full pack of cigarettes on me, and not lighting one up. I even stayed in a smoking hotel room because that's all they had available at the time I checked in. Before quitting I would normally smoke a pack a day, except at a casino, where I would smoke 2 and sometimes 3 packs a day, so casinos were definitely a "trigger" for me. The day after tomorrow is my 5-week mark. |

Whatever works do it! I think what all the taxes and restrictions have done is cut down on the chain smoking. You rarely hear of two-pack a day habits anymore. When I was a kid you heard of all kinds of peoe smoking that much. Thus cutting back becomes harder as there is less to cut back from. No offense but I do not see why anyone born since 1960 would even start. Otoh I have acquired some tobacco seed this year and am going to grow some just for fun. Mixed in water it can be a good pesticide. The President is a fink. |
