Marvel comics are obviously dominating motion pictures. They are also having limited success on Netflix. But broadcast and cable television has been dominated by DC comic characters with NINE current TV series (Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, iZombie, Lucifer, Preacher, Powerless) and a number of older TV series based on Superman and Batman in particular.

The critics are raving about the newest MARVEL entry that will start on FX this week.

I dunno. Looking at the trailers it's
not doing much for me. And it
has another Brit actor that typically
has a heavy Brit accent, playing an
American. It just doesn't look right.
You never saw this in the old days,
Sean Connery or David Niven never
changed their accents. Why would
they.

I'm watching a Nflix production called
'Travelers', a time travel show. But it
just seems like a typical cop show with
time travel as a gimmick. I have to watch
a few more to see if it gets better.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Comic book characters do better in animation. There's less disbelief to suspend, too.

Isn't the guy behind the FARGO TV series also writing this one?

Fargo is an excellent show. One of the best on TV by far. I remember before the first season started, everyone was skeptical because the movie is so great. Why ruin it with a TV show? Well, the series holds its own.

So I'll definitely be giving this one a watch.

Funny how when I say "better" someone tries to prove me wrong by bringing up money, as though that was the only yardstick for measuring quality.

Well I think that some qualification helps. I like the TV series iZombie because the characters are charming and the dialogue witty. However, the show is not very popular, having only drawn over 2 million viewers for the pilot. The special affects are minimal, and as some people point out, it is still a procedural police drama with the zombie aspect just a twist.

Drew Barrymore's new zombie TV series will undoubtedly be seen by tens of millions, but it lacks some of the charm, and is much more dependent on gross-out scenes.

Not only is it the key measure, it is the lifeblood of the entire entertainment industry.
