Car racing debatably is a sport, as the drivers need to be in good physical shape, but the competition is mroe important in the contruction area than the driving in most cases.

Are you asserting that if you showed up at a professional race you'd have pretty much the same chance of winning as any of the pros given that you had a competitive car?

To be more specific, if Jimmie Johnson, who obviously has a very, very good car, fell ill and they asked you to substitute for him, you think you'd have a pretty fair chance at getting the same results on the track as he does?

More! I woulnd't eb afraid to run evryone else off the road! :P

Seriously, no.

I am saying if you take an average driver and give her the best car, she should easily beat the bestest ever driver if he gets a lousy car. Take the Mex City grand priz of whatever year F1 last allowed turbos. Two average drivers in average cars in the Arrows team scored 3rd and 4th place, becasue their team used turbos and other tams did not (alas, McLaren did). Turbo-charged engines have a huge advantage in high altitude settings like Mex City's 2200 meters above sea level.

Of course, in racing leagues where car models are limited and little modification is allowed, driver skills count for more.
