I love this. It will set the bigots' hair on fire. Maybe they'll even call for a boycott. It won't matter, the movie is already on track to gross $100+ million in its first weekend. It's going to be a huge hit.

And I'm sure it's being blown out of proportion. It's probably not even noticeable in the movie if you're not really looking for it. But that won't stop the idiots from crying about the "gay agenda!"

Interesting. Probably someone will object to the gay character being doughy and flamboyant, while the straight object of his affection is skinny and macho.

Ticket pre sales are selling better than Captain America Civil War and Finding Dory from last year.

A $150 million opening weekend is not out of the question...

I don't understand. Is this a real movie or a cartoon? Why would anyone care about it being a gay movie? Disney has been doing this stuff since forever.

This is one of a series of live action films (or CGI films) that are being made as remakes of the classic animated films of decades ago. Disney has never depicted a gay character in one of it's children's movies until now.

Jim Carrey was in discussion to do a remake.

I worked at a movie theater during high school and college. I am still friends on Facebook with some people who still work there.

One of them just posted that the theater SHATTERED its single day attendance record today thanks to Beauty and the Beast. That's crazy!

Extremely strong opening day for a PG movie with over 7 million tickets sold. Usually PG-13 movies get strong opening days as teens want to be the first to see a movie. Parents of younger children don't feel that pressure to drag the kids to a crowded movie theater on the opening day, they are more content to see it in the first few weeks.

Millions of tickets opening day
1,765,600 Moana (Wednesday)
2,832,000 Cinderella
3,667,000 The Jungle Book (2016)
6,271,100 Finding Dory
7,374,200 Beauty and the Beast (2017)
8,088,100 Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
8,648,600 Captain America: Civil War
11,469,900 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
13,691,900 Star Wars: The Force Awakens

3,815,600 Logan

Surprisingly Beauty and the Beast got a decent number of bad reviews (not that anyone cares).
