It is a beautiful country and the area around Port of Spain, their capital, is green and lush mountainous area. They have both natural beauty and natural resources so their economy is not dependent on tourists and fairly strong. They never get hit by hurricanes and their water is safe and good. The food is a cool mix of Caribbean and Indian and everything grows there. The weather is always around 80 to 90 degrees with a breeze. English is also the main language. It is pretty much paradise except for a rising crime and drug problem. Sin always messes up paradise. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Welcome back. But the nitpicker in me says to tell you that:
Maybe they've never been hit by a hurricane as far as records go, but there's no such thing as immunity to such storms anywhere in the Caribbean. Just some places that are more likely to be hit than others.
Everything can grow anywhere. But some things do better in the climate they're adapted to. You can grow sugarcane in New England. it just won't grow very tall or produce much in the way of sugar. How was the coffee? Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

Ah, this might have been the only disappointing thing. We had instant everyday. Apparently they do grow coffee for local consumption that is very good. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Trinidad is well off of the normal hurricane path but to quote Wikipedia "The second tropical storm and first hurricane of the 1933 Atlantic hurricane season, the system formed on June 24 to the east of the Lesser Antilles. It moved westward and attained hurricane status before striking Trinidad on June 27." Glad you enjoyed your trip Padre, it is an island that is on my bucket list. Have you read some of the stories? It has one of, if not the highest crime rate in the world. In broad daylight, with people around, there is almost nothing they won't do to rob you if you're an American or from EU. If you're driving a car they will block you in with 2 cars, steal everything in the car, everything on you, and beat the crap out of you if you protest in the slightest. They'll break into your hotel room or apartment, while you're there, and steal everything of value. Call the police and they'll laugh. Did you see any crimes? If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I've nothing against instant. But having instant in the Caribbean does qualify as a sin against good taste :) Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

None at all and we spent every afternoon walking around neighborhoods asking if we could talk about Jesus and share the story of our lives together. I will say that just about everyone we spent time with was worried about what they saw as a rise in crime and drug use. I don't think they realize what crime looks like in say Chicago. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Do they talk about Venezuela? It's only 6 miles away and the country is starving and in economic shambles. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Thanks. That is one country in the Caribbean you don't hear about often. As Jerry Seinfeld once wondered, what do they call a citizen of that country? Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |
