Get 'it'? What 'it' do you mean. Actually, some
of the other gods are actually more real to
me in concept because I've seen them
portrayed in movies all my life. Gods like
Pan, Zeus, Poseidon, Hermes, Heracles,
and so many more. These gods kind of
make sense in a mythical way. I can see
why they were needed for primitive people.

Your god is never portrayed as anything
other than an idea. Some nebulous being
somewhere that supposedly answers prayers
& judges us. Oh, and 'loves' us with some
kind of weird idea love that nobody can
quite figure out.

What is the 'it' that I don't get.

What I was specifically referencing is that you don't get that claiming the certainty that there is no God is a truth statement like claiming the certainty there is a God. The big difference is you have nothing to support your claim.

Based on the post above you don't seem to get that Jesus Christ has had more movies, songs, stories, and books written about Him than any other person or entity by an order of magnitude.

You also don't get the Gospel at all. I thought you said you actually were a Christian for a time? If what you describe above was your understanding no wonder you left. I would too if I had such a nutty and childish view of Christ. Who taught you? Did you do any reading on your own?

You seriously want me to address this
yet again? It's like you think the more
you say it, the more likely it is I'll give
a different response. Or do you really
not remember you've said this exact same
thing to me dozens of times.

Jesus is an historical figure, not a god.

{There is no place in the Bible that says the three words "Jesus is God," The Bible never records Jesus saying the precise words, “I am God.”}

I'm always careful to say that I tried
to be a Xtion, but ran away in fear
for my sanity before they sucked
me into the cult.

Then they convert as an adult like I did.

Wait a minute. You said you were raised
a Catholic by Catholic parents. Then in
college you fell away a little, and then
went back. Now you're saying you
were raised secular?????

HUH?

Perhaps my hypothetical was unclear - they are NEVER proselytized to

A thinking person will always come to some realization of God or a "higher power". The unnatural and non-sensical position is to believe that there is nothing. You have to be seriously proselytized and brainwashed to be an atheist.

Padre - you are the on not getting it - as I’ve stated previously - put someone in a religious bubble where they can never be proselytized to from infancy but all else remains a normal life - odds that person believes the Torah, Bible or Q’uran are not works of fiction?

Zero. What I find interesting is that the medical profession does not consider the belief in God as a form of insanity. There are likely billions on the planet who believe in some form of God, but if any one of them goes to their house of worship and announces that God speaks to them they would be carted away.

Wouldn't that depend on what they say God is telling them?

What they said God was telling them to sacrifice their child? (after all, there is precedence that this 'happened')

Nope, I hear that all the time now.
God and Jesus talk to people.
Jesus is their best friend, they
walk and talk with him, he rides
in their car, he advises them.

50 years ago you would have been
shunned for talking like that. Then
the Jesus Movement happened
and he became the new Santa. He's
a member of the family now, makes
the red lights green and finding you
the best parking spots at Walmart.

This is how people view Jesus now:

If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

The world is just a Carrie Underwood song now. The first self driving car, just let go of the wheel and someone else will solve your problems. What the world needs now is more people that will take responsibility for their actions, not giving up your control to someone else (imaginary or not).
