I consider Roseanne to be one of the all-time great sitcoms.

I find this to be very surprising.... especially that they intend to bring the whole cast back ( even John Goodman, whose character died in the final season).

Hard to get what they are going to do. Goodman is dead in the series, he comes back and it really loses credibility. Ideally it would pick up where are they now. Show Darlene struggling just like her mother did after she let herself get pregnant at such a young age. I seem to remember Rosanne being upset when that happened, kind of saying she would have a life of poverty. Could see Jackie having gotten divorced after just a few years and regretting she lived her years as the tramp she was. Rosanne living as a widow, trying to help the kids variously, but they are all stuck in very low-middle class life, just above what we would call "poor," and her grandkids headed down the same road. Maybe DJ has taken a pinch or two and did small time, unable to get that behind him and an estranged ex on him always for child support.

But that does not seem to be where they will go.

I won't say the cynical idea I have about what it is about.

Maybe they'll just ignore the final season?

If you remember, the series finale revealed that a lot of the stuff that happened during the series didn't actually happen as it was shown:

Dan Connor didn't have an affair, he died of a heart attack
Jackie was a lesbian, not Roseanne's mother as was shown
Darlene was with Mark, not David as was shown

Who knows? The final season was a weird mess and then the series finale kind of made up for it by revealing it was all part of Roseanne's novel.

I didn't really see the last season. I didn't really watch regular. If it was on I sometimes watched, but it was never appointment viewing. I never saw the finale just read about it. Seems it was the classic sitcom with the last season better left forgotten.

Maybe they'll reveal that they live next door to "Mike and Molly"

For anyone who's curious, this is from the series finale where they revealed what was really going on with all of the characters. Seems like if they're bringing the show back, they'll just ignore this as most people don't even remember that they changed everything with the last episode:

I had no idea. Ratings had dropped a lot by then, and I certainly heard nothing about it.

My dear god, did I LOATHE that show.
I can't stand Rosanne Barr for 10 sec, let
alone on a show. I saw Tom Arnold on a
talk show after they divorced and it was
mentioned that he got a huge settlement
in the divorce. Arnold said he paid for every
dime of it being married to Rosanne, and
there isn't a man in this audience that doesn't
know what I mean. God, what a bitch.

What did he expect when he married her? I thought he was a gold digger.

He's way more talented than she'll
ever be.
