I was going through some old pictures and thought I'd share some of the ones of certain clovers.

I seem to have always had a knack for finding n-leaf clovers, where 4 ≤ n ≤ 7. I have only ever found one 7-leaf clover, and I was very young when I did so I don't have a picture of it, and I have never found a 6-leaf clover. But I have found several 5-leaf clovers and possibly a couple hundred 4-leaf clovers throughout the years. The following pictures are from a few years ago:

1) a 4-leaf clover growing near a 5-leaf clover:

2) a close-up of a 4-leaf clover with a 5-leaf clover in the background (different from the ones above):

3) a close-up of the 5-leaf clover shown in picture #1:

4) a close-up of the 5-leaf clover shown in picture #2:

No secret. The majority of the time I find them by happening to look down at the very location where there is one, or sometimes I'll spend a couple minutes looking through a clover patch. Living in a climate where clovers flourish probably helps the most.

If an insect or a child came by and turned a fiver into a four, is it readily apparent?

Well, if half of the leaf in question is eaten and the other half is intact, then I would say yes, but if it was cleanly picked off by a human, I would be inclined to say no. However, I've never investigated a 4+ leaf clover to see if it looked like it had one or more leaves that were picked off.
