Exactly.

Think about it. To be a victim of a terrorist attack you need to be in the precise location of a particular city at the precise moment that it occurs. Chances of that happening are virtually nil. Happy for people to continue to be irrationally scared though as the lower demand makes my holidays cost less.

I went to Oaxaca City, Mexico the year after these images were published by CNN. I talked to a number of Americans who were in the city that summer. A lot of stuff is staged for effect. It was far more dangerous for poor Mexicans than for European and American tourists. The one American killed was an "internet reporter" travelling on a tourist visa who was photographing people rioting.

Photographing people who are rioting is a very dangerous activity. He was gut shot while his own camera recording his dying screams (audio only).

I wish I was watching Univision at the time. I might have finally learned how to say "bus" in Spanish.
