In the 1990's air passenger growth was so dramatic that preparing for a billion passengers a year seemed just around the corner. Then came 9-11 and the meltdown and now we are looking to possibly break a billion by next year.

International traffic has increased by 50% since 2009.

JFK and Miami are the busiest international ports, but as Miami represents a lot of short haul international flights, LAX is often considered more important. Of the 8 US airports that can handle A380, LAX has 9 destinations and JFK 6. Miami and San Francisco have the same 3 in Europe, and the other four airports have one or two destinations (DFW, IAH, ATL, IAD).

Increased by 50% in 9 years. Why. The population
hasn't increased by 50%. I and nobody in my
extended family is traveling more by air than
they did 9 years ago. Where are all these extra
flyers coming from and where the hell are they
going.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

The number of international flyers increased by 50% in 9 years. Domestic flyers only increased by 20% in 9 years.

International Destinations from Philadelphia are about 70% fewer than from JFK.
