While it is not really a secret that serving patrons unlimited cheap alcohol in tropical resorts in the heat would statistically result in some deaths, as well as a lot risky sexual behavior, this recent “ incident involving a brother sister (ages 23 and 20) who were taken to a hospital (she died and he had a broken collarbone) could be devastating to the practice of shipping large numbers of college students to Mexico.

Their parents obviously believe their children were slipped mickeys

Rooms at this resort start at $200/night

I don't see more detail as to how it happened. I was never able to do the spring break thing, but saw more than my share of boozing silliness. Doubt it will change much of anything, maybe just shift the action to Puerto Rico.

I think that is the whole point. The claim is that people don't know what is happening to them. There is a strong innuendo that they are being slipped drugs to make them potential robbery victims.

The truth may not matter here!

If they are on an all-inclusive I don't see that happening, the place should be fairly safe.

A lawyer's job is to spread the idea that anything is possible.

These are heartbroken parents. They lost a beautiful 20 year old daughter. It would be unnatural if they said it was all her fault. People don't work that way

People don't, true. They just blame people like me who point out the obvious.

Looking at the pic, she looks like an easy mark, though. Has the look of someone grew up a sheltered life.

The truth is that no serious crime takes place in a Mexican resort. Deaths are accidents or else crimes committed by a fellow tourist. Occasiona stolen luggage is the only crime and that is rare.

Mexican Newspaper reports over a dozen former guests at the resort report having quickly lost consciousness after taking a drink. Wood alcohol would not work so quickly and would attack optic nerve also. "Mickey Finn" to obtain access to room or room key or something seems more likely than 'cut' alcohol.

Would wood alcohol affect you different at all, other than blinding you?
