| Pacomartin Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 1068 Posts: 12569 | We have seen our fair share of Russian dashcam shots from first the plane crash outside of Moscow and now fireballs from the meteors in Siberia. Russians install dashcams for court cases in involving “psychopaths” who can quickly escalate into a fist fight or worse. The second reason, is that if you get injured Russian websites are hungry for gory, horrifying footage of automobile accidents. Russians also install dashboard cameras as a way to protect themselves from corrupt law enforcement officials. They also can counter would-be scammers who will throw themselves in front of moving cars in the hopes of a lawsuit payoff. As these reasons are not unique to Russia, I wonder if there is going to be a marked increase in dash-cams in the USA? What do you think? Would it be worth a few hundred bucks to you? |

| Fleastiff Member since: Oct 27, 2012 Threads: 62 Posts: 7831 | Our police and insurance situations are not nearly so bad but dashcams are likely to grow as rear view cameras proliferate and people start to think of dash cams also. The cameras are cheap and it will mainly be up to auto detailers to seize the market. Most of the footage will be worthless but who knows... some might turn out to be memorable. |

We might bypass dashcams, if things like Google glasses come into play. (or Apple goggles, or Microsoft Windows (Microsoft send me the check for coming up with the idea of calling your glasses "Windows") OTOH -- might end up being against the law to wear such things driving. so, maybe dashcams still) You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans?
