The Round-the-World flight carries travelers across three continents and two oceans. The entire journey takes 19,717 milles.

Qantas currently operates:

QF1 SYD-DXB-LHR

&

QF11 SYD-LAX-JFK

I have wondered from time to time if they could successfully add in JFK-LHR so to have:

SYD-LAX-JFK-LHR-DXB-SYD and vice versa.

Haven't really looked at what sort of timing would make it feesable but QF1 arrives in LHR early morning so a day flight to JFK would be able to arrive in time for the existing QF12 which departs JFK for LAX at approx 6pm. The reverse could be an evening departure from JFK-LAX easily in time for the existing QF2 departure.

The eastern route for Air India's Boeing-777 200ER flies 15,127.83km to take advantage of tailwinds, The great circle route is 12,400 km.

By definition, the distance between two antipodes of the Earth is 20,000km.

You would think the most natural round the world trip (37696 km) would be on Air New Zealand, as the Singapore route is only 5% longer than the LAX route.
Auckland International Airport ‎(AKL)‎ -Changi Airport ‎(SIN)‎ Distance: 8,418 km
