Dog Meat Soup for Sale in Shadow of Olympic Stadium

Korea is a swell place for animal rights.
Over 2 million dogs are raised and
slaughtered for food in S Korea every
year. God knows how many are killed in
N Korea.

Traditional curling starts on the 13th. This is the first Olympics for the two person mixed pairs curling. I had never seen it before.

American figure skater Mirai Nagasu hit a clean triple axel.

First American female to ever do it successfully at the Olympics. And only the third female in the world to hit it at the Olympics.

It was a great skate
then
Then the Russian comes out and skates near perfection showing they are in another league

Why didn't Tonya Harding do one in the 92 and 94* winter Olympics? They mentioned in the movie, I Tonya, she was the first American skater to reach that level.

* corrected.

From the records it looks as if women are generally reluctant to try it in the Olympics as there were 22 years between Olympics for the 1st and the 2nd successful jump.

USA Competition
Tonya Harding (USA) was the first woman to land two triple axel jumps in the same competition (1991 Skate America).
Kimmie Meissner (USA), first completed the jump at the 2005 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

International Competition
Midori Ito (JPN) became the first woman to land the triple axel jump in competition, who first performed it at the 1988 NHK Trophy. She also landed triple axel jumps in Olympic games in 1988

Since then, seven other women :
Tonya Harding (USA),
Yukari Nakano (JPN),
Ludmila Nelidina (RUS),
Mao Asada (JPN), landed triple axel in 2010 Olympics
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva (RUS),
Rika Kihira (JPN) and
Mirai Nagasu (USA)) landed triple axel in 2018 Olympics

This was my fave skating competition in the 80's
but they got rid of it for some reason. I'd watch
the Olympics it they still had it.
