Checking whether prostitution has any effect on shootings/violence might be interesting, except often prostitution is only allowed to exist in unsavory areas usually accompanied with other criminalized behavior. Such areas are already filled with ne'er-do-wells and I don't think tourist driven prostitution tells you much about an area since a lot of out-of towners involved.

Troublesome relationships, or ones falling apart certainly drive some people mental and violence ensues. Domestic murders aren't so uncommon.
Visit a legal brothel in Nevada. You will not witness unruly activity or crimes being committed.

I would visit the town of Kellogg Idaho, which had the only stoplight on I-90 from coast to coast. Withing a few blocks there were 7 whorehouses within easy walking distance. Occasionally I would be in a gas station or restaurant and I would ask the locals how the felt about the houses. This was right next to the Sunshine mine territory. The locals told me they hadn't had a serious crime in their town in decades. They felt it was because the rowdy could get their needs met, for not to much money, and they felt safe letting their kids walk around even after dark.

All the legal brothels have pretty good security, they have to. Dr's check the whores once per week thoroughly. Sex without condoms is verboten. Safe sex without the hangups of marriage or divorce, or force or rape. Is there any crime located near the Chicken Ranch outside Vegas, attributed to prostitution? I don't believe there is.

I'm not swearing it is a fact, but had Cruz had the opportunity to be either getting laid or shooting people, most teen age men would choose the sex, every time.

I was going to mention it's in the middle of nowhere. That's not much of an example to go by.

Look at Times Square in the 70s. I don't think the area was known as more peaceful. But like I said, it wasn't just prostitutes.

"Legality of brothel prostitution in Nevada by county. Prostitution permitted, at least one active brothel. ...
Shady Lady Ranch in Nye County, Nevada.
Chicken Ranch, June 2007.
Shady Lady Ranch brothel sign.
The Moonlite Bunny Ranch in Mound House near Carson City.
Sheri's Ranch in Pahrump.
Donna's Ranch brothel in Wells."

These aren't really nowhere? Carson city, Reno, just outside Clark County Nevada. It would definitely be downtown if the casino's could stand the competition.

It is better than the unknown health of the street walkers on LV blvd. It's safer all the way around.

That is the kind of prostitution that should be regulated, Pimps and Ho's. Legal brothels are nothing like that. https://www.thrillist.com/sex-dating/los-angeles/what-is-a-legal-brothel-like

I'm not advocating for disease and drugs, just the opposite. The women in the legal brothels are business women, most make over six figures. It is surprising that the women that work there the longest, really have some good instincts and the houses try to help them invest wisely. The legal houses are not out to destroy and misuse the workers.

Yes there are truck stops.

A place for every budget. It's capitalism, drive to a nicer place.

If Seattle had had legal brothels, the green river killer might not have had such lush hunting grounds. Same with Bundy.

Don't know if I'd advocate for LA as a peaceful place either.

You might be right, but it's hard to tell, because most of the time it's not considered in the same light as your local grocery store, or mall, and treated as outcast by most of society.

Don't think either of those two guys would be helped by prostitution. Bundy had sex with the dead on purpose. And even ate flesh. Green river might be more normal by serial killer standards, but don't know enough about him. Probably more than simple aggression problems with some of these people.

IDK either, but I did find a body, maybe one of Lee Gates, In Spokane Wash. in 88 ? She had been raped and strangled. A beautiful 15 year old girl left nude, her bra around her neck, which had been used to choke the life out of her. She'd only been there a few hours. I still remember there was only one fly on her, and the bruises and semen on her torso.

How awful for her and her family. I have wondered if maybe the killer might have been satisfied some other way.
