and make that believable within it's definition... otherwise, how do you get lost?

Talking about over thinking something.
It was just a plot device to showcase
ridiculous aliens and silly situations. It
was a fun show, not a science oriented
one. I saw all the originals in B/W. It
wasn't till the early 70's that I saw
reruns in color and I was even more of
a fan. It was a gorgeous show in color..

I think the problem is, many people who
don't like the show didn't see it in the
60's, they saw it much later when it
was totally outdated. In the 60's it was
hugely entertaining, like Batman and
Bewitched were. Silly shows that were
trying to be silly. We loved it.

Have you never been in a large casino?

oh, brother, I have experienced "lost" alright, for real, in the woods ... imagining that is no problem. Something akin to terror that you have to fight off when young. Older, you know what to do.

PS, just noticed misuse of its vs it's ... correct that for me, will you? one of those that bothers me, ouch

I don't think Irwin Allen was all that concerned with accuracy in his productions.

Irwin Allen tried to develop "family" sci fi.

Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1964–68, ABC TV)
The Time Tunnel (1966–67, ABC TV)
Land of the Giants (1968–70, ABC TV)

Lost in Space (1965–68, CBS TV) was supposed to be a science-fiction version of The Swiss Family Robinson, but unlike the other three show, Lost In Space morphed into a children's show with episodes concentrating on the young Will Robinson, the robot and especially the comic villain Dr. Smith.

These were all great 60's shows. They seem
cornball now, but 50 years ago they were
very entertaining because this kind of
thing on TV was new. All the special
effects and wild scripts, you never knew
what was coming next. It's all been done
to death since, so it's appeal is gone. I
loved all these shows.

Bill Mumy is in his mid 60's now. Almost all of his live acting was done before the age of 21, although he has made a lot of cartoons as an adult.

The father and Dr Smith are dead as are the Robot actor and the voice of the Robot. June Lockheart is in her 90s now.

Robbie the Robot [I have always assumed that this was the robot on Lost in Space] actually has an extensive filmography. I take this as a testimony to how the cost of special effects were viewed by science fiction producers back in the day. However, he has been on TV and in movies more recently, so evidently the creation has achieved nostalgic stage that is keeping it going.

I saw Forbidden Planet at a drive-in
when I was 7 years old, scared me
for years afterwards. I thought Robbie
was evil, the whole movie terrified
me. The red lion monster, I had
nightmares forever.

I don't know how you define "most," but Bill mummy spent five years in the 90s doing the character of Lennier in Babylon 5.

after looking at some of the images I think the robot on Lost in Space was a knockoff. Image below shows a collection and you can see the differences.

I recall watching that one often, yet the one thing I can recall is a crewman named Kowalski.

That one had a few good eps, but it was too corny and formulaic.
