I've been hearing for decades how rude the French are, but that was honestly not my experience in Paris. The people I came across were generally friendly and helpful. In comparison, I think the people in northern Europe were much more cold and introverted. Just my opinion.

I found France, specifically Paris, to be warm and welcoming. I think, if you approach them with a gracious respect for their city and culture, they respond in kind.

That's been true for me in every new cultural setting. I have never had a serious issue in any country, but I also don't approach them assuming anything about how it is there, vs how it is in the US, whatever "it" might be at that moment. I really think that one mindset makes all the difference.

I think it would be fun to travel with PokerGrinder. He's my kind of adventurer.

I cannot say that. The rudest place I've ever been is Macau. Yes, in the casinos, the staff will be nice. However, out in public, if you're not a potential customer, people will be very aggressive and rude. I have never once seen a car stop for anyone standing at a crosswalk, clearly wanting to cross, for example.

You have me there. I have not been to Asia, and I have heard it is VERY different there. No further that direction than Hawaii, so far. Have dear friends moving back to Sydney in the near future, though, so I think I'll finally make it Down Under.

Might try HK and Shanghai while I'm in the neighborhood. You'll have to advise me on that.

I've been to HK twice and Shanghai four times. If you have to pick just one, the answer would depend on why you're going. Not knowing anything, I think most tourists would enjoy HK more. It's more scenic, has more to do, easier to move around, and right next to Macau. Shanghai is, for the most part, a new city that doesn't seem to have deep roots. Quite a mix of rich and poor. You can see a Rolls Royce and a rickshaw at the same time. It has a high energy Manhattan kind of feel to it. I don't want to put down Shanghai but still prefer Hong Kong.

Game 56 is going slow. I don't see 57 starting until at least Monday.

Looks like you can count me in as long as Oncedear doesn't succeed with one of his longshots! [like the one he won with on his last win]

I wrote about this in the movies thread but I'd like to give an enthusiastic thumbs up to the movie Game Night. It is the best comedy I've seen in years. Easily rivals The Hangover. A very clever comedy with a strong story and sentimental moments as well. It succeeds at so many levels. There is a scene with a character carries a classic Clue box but they are not seen playing it.
