Her great great grandfather was George V (monarch from 1910 to 1937). The child of Catholic parents, but not Catholic herself (unlike her brother and sister), she was put back in the royal succession five years ago , and is now ranked #35. That is far below the 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II. It's a pretty nice life, as your grandparents live in wing of the castle with Prince Harry, and you get the glamour and no job title. |

IMHO it is the common heritage. We threw them out because we didn't want a king. But anthropology shows that people and societies need some kind of royalty to look up to. So we follow them. I don't, many don't, but so many do. The President is a fink. |

The estates owned by British royalty are some of the most visited tourist sites in the world. 10's of million of visitors in the summer. For some of the castles you have to book a year in advance and it's not cheap. The world has always been fascinated by Brit royalty, it's so old and has such a long unbroken line of monarchs. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I must admit I went to Buckingham Palace, hoping to see the changing of the guards, but was there at the wrong time. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

Christopher is one of the guards. A soldiers life is terribly hard! It is a Brit nursery rhyme and was on Mad Men. Google "They're changing the guard at Buckingham Palace" for detail. The President is a fink. |
