I'm no expert, but I lean towards waiting it out until the water is pumped out enough to wade though it.

More rain is expected, so it is unlikely the waters will receed anytime soon. My thoughts are that taking care of less people in the hole has to be easier than more. Also, it will minimize the loss of life in case of unforeseen problems in the future. If they all need to bug out, wouldn’ t it be tragic if a life that could have been saved by an earlier departure was lost because of the time it took to get all of them out at once?

Trapped in a cave for a couple months
with a bunch of other people, that wouldn't
be boring. I was so glad when they rescued
the miners, just so we wouldn't have to
hear about them anymore. Borrrring...

They need to get internet to them, set up some webcams, and make a reality TV show out of it. I would watch.

As it is approaching monsoon season, that may prove impossible.

While using SCUBA gear on your own in those conditions would be difficult for a trained diver, I should think having a brightly colored rope and three rescue divers working with each child would be doable. You could basically pass him hand over hand.

October?

They've put wanna-be astronauts in similar conditions for a long time, although these kids will always have some contact in their cave world. Still, not exactly great conditions.

News is reporting that a Thai volunteer diver ran out of air and died after delivering oxygen tanks to the boys. While they contemplate the minimum risk to the trapped boys it is clear that many people are putting their lives at risk to keep them supplied.

I don't mean to sound heartless, but I was enjoying the coverage of the volcanic eruption in Hawaii until this story.

I wondered if the volcano had just went away or something, haven't seen anything about it lately.

Look online for local Hawaii coverage, maybe a youtube stream.
