I just remembered why I came here. I'm in the early stages of shopping for a Democratic candidate. I'll give a lot of points to any who are opposed to reparations.

Who owed reparation to who?
There have been a lot of people who have been deeply and wrongfully hurt in the past. Are you talking about slaves, Native Americans, jews, gypsies, Hungarians, Armenians, etc.?

Native Americans are not given reparations per se, but they are arguing that old treaties were never honored.

I would say out of all announced candidates, Dem or Repub, Donald Trump would be most fervently against 'reparations'.

To quote Mark Baum, "good luck with that!"

They are not all onboard with reparations yet, but I do not see many if any giving a "that's crazy!" reply. Too afraid of and too owned by the Black vote, 25% or so of the Democrat Party vote. Not that I am saying all Blacks are in favor, many know that if you want to set race relations back 75 years then reparations are the way to go.

As you shop I would ask how you look at their position on taxes. (If this is too personal just tell me to go jump in Lake Mead.) You had a large gain when you sold your business a few years back. I will not ask about structure and taxes, but some of these candidates would have had you giving well over half of that in taxes. Does the 70% tax rate proposal affect your decision?

It's amazing how many years had a tax rate of 70% or higher prior to the Reagan revolution.

But back then nobody paid that rate. There were all kinds of shelters and other ways to manipulate income. After the 1986 reforms those were gone, idea was lower rate but actually pay it.

Took congress just 3 years to renege on that deal.

GOP tends to value experience and seniority more. Bob Dole and John McCain got the nominations mostly because it was "their turn." Trump and Reagan are the main two who did not respect those rules, but they were older and had made their bones.

Dems seem way more interested in hearing what someone wants to do than the work under their belt. Obama and JFK had no real big such work. They did have a look and sound. Hillary had her "turn" twice, blew it the first time with Obama. Next time the primary was fixed for her and she still came near blowing it. Bernie had the sound.
